Progress is well underway on the Flotation Integrity Project (FIP) at BHP’s Olympic Dam processing facility.
The project is all about upgrading Cleaner 1 – an ageing section of the flotation circuit – with new equipment and modern technology to support long-term operations.
So far, our teams have:
- Completed major demolition works
- Installed over 1,000m³ of new concrete foundations
What’s next? September marks the start of the main construction phase, with significant amounts of steel and piping arriving on site.
- The erection of several large steel structures (~300 tonnes of steel, up to 20m high).
- Installation of piping (~3.5km) servicing a range of fluids and connecting between the old plant and the new equipment.
- Installation of mechanical items; including pumps, large sumps (up to 20 tonnes), large cells.
- Installation of the electrical and instrumentation to accommodate the equipment.
It’s exciting to see the project taking shape as we move from foundations to major installations.
Count on us.
