Dalrymple Bay Stacker Reclaimer Upgrades
KAEFER (through acquired business G&S) carried out upgrade works of a Krupp Stacker Reclaimer (SR3). The upgrade increased its stacking capacity by 15%.
Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, located at the port of Hay Point south of Mackay in Queensland, is one of the largest coal exporting ports in the world.
KAEFER carried out the disassembly, relocation and upgrade of a Krupp Stacker Reclaimer (SR3) including strengthening and modifications to the sectional components, transport of subsections from Bund 4 to a new Bund 6 (to be renamed SR6) and then the rebuilding and upgrade (to AS 4324.1 standards) with a design capacity of 6,600 tonnes per hour. The upgrade increased its stacking capacity by 15%.
KAEFER supplied all labour, materials, consumables, construction plant, and equipment for the disassembly and relocation of stacker reclaimer SR3. Works included:
- Management of earthworks for dismantle, relocation and re-assembly of the stacker reclaimer;
- Total protective coating of the boom and counterweight structure including the mast;
- Cutting and re-splicing of conveyor belts;
- Offsite overhaul of the operators cabin including all new electrical installation; and
- Installation of new control and instrument cabling including new remote i/o control boxes.
Manufacturing and fabrication works undertaken at the G&S Mackay workshop included fabrication of a new elevator conveyor, strengthening of the boom structure and structural modifications to all the main structures to cater for the increased load conditions.
